Athletics

The St. Demetrios Athletic program has fostered friendships, community and a successful history over the years.  With dedicate coaches and the support of our parents, we aim to cultivate the talents of our young people.  Our athletes participate in the Metropolis of Chicago GOAL Basketball League, including teams for participants from seventh grade through high school.

2022-2023 SEASON UPDATE

Hello Spartan Family,

We hope everyone enjoyed the summer break.

GOAL Basketball has made some changes to the divisions this year. Please read carefully below. Registration will be online and a link will be sent soon.

Divisions of Play

  • 3rd/4th Boys - Coaches Nick Papanicolaou & John Sellas
  • 5th/6th Boys - Coaches Nick Papanicolaou & John Sellas
  • 3rd-6th Girls - ***New Division *** Coaches John Sellas & Nick Papanicolaou
  • 7th/8th Boys -TBA
  • 7th-12th Girls - Coaches John Sellas
  • 9th - 12th Boys - Coaches George Karabelas & George Kalouris

1st/2nd coed does not have a division in GOAL. We will be setting up a team like we did last year. More information to follow.

PRACTICES

Basketball Practice Schedule (Practices begin week of Oct 3, 2022)

Practices are open to all until registration is complete. For High School aged players, you are welcome to attend practices until you make your respective school team

  • Monday

     6:45pm - 8:15pm 3rd/4th Boys & 5th/6th Boys

  • Tuesday

          7:30pm - 9:30pm 9th - 12th boys

  • Wednesday

     6:45pm - 8:00pm 3rd - 6th Girls

     8:00pm - 9:30pm 7th - 12th Girls (if Applicable)

     Thursday

     6:30pm - 8:30pm 7th/8th Boys
